Sarah & Lee - a fabulous festival wedding at Brenley Farm

I love Sarah and Lee’s wedding from last summer; it has such a relaxed, feel-good vibe to it, which is definitely needed at the moment!

Lee had treated Sarah to a night away as a belated birthday present, when, as they were leaving their room to go out, Sarah asked if she looked ok. Lee replied saying she did but that something was missing; then he pulled a ring box out of his pocket!

They knew they wanted a chilled, boho, festival feel for their wedding, in an outdoors setting, which is why they chose Brenley Farm, just outside Faversham. The venue is a working farm, so they provided hay bales for guests to sit on, next to a huge marquee set-up for the 170 guests. Fish and chips were served for the informal wedding breakfast and they had a gin bar, created by their friends, with everyone drinking their gin out of teacups and saucers. Sarah recalls, ‘It was a little vision I had, I had started to make my own gins at home a year in advance, [but] it was too much for me on my own with the baby and planning the wedding and moving house so they took it out of my hands and it made the day, it was the coolest gin bar ever!’ They had music playing all day, with face-painting, popcorn and candyfloss on offer for everyone.

Sarah and Lee decided to get everyone involved in their big day, by having a ‘wedding bake-off’; they said, ‘We asked each guest to bake and make something for a wedding bake off competition and the entries were fabulous! There was so much, it provided our desserts for the guests and was lots of fun, everyone made so much effort.’

Sarah says the most memorable part of the day for her was walking down the aisle towards Lee and seeing him looking back at her, as well as the fabulous gin bar, teacups and music! She also says to future couples that anything is achievable and to ‘accept help from friends! Friends are amazing!’

Huge congratulations guys! And thank you for sharing your story with Weddings in Kent!
