I'm not sure how it's possible, but it's been exactly one year since I launched Weddings in Kent! (cue me singing Stevie Wonder's 'Happy Birthday' for most of the day).
I started this blog as a way for me to stay sane during the first lockdown, especially after I lost my wedding planning business. I know all parents struggled with the home-schooling, and I was no different, so writing about weddings, since I wasn't able to work on them anymore, was the perfect outlet for me. Prior to losing my business, I had planned, styled and coordinated countless weddings and events, and had cultivated a fantastic network of suppliers that I couldn't imagine not working with them anymore. By writing about weddings, and featuring styled shoots and real weddings on Weddings in Kent, I felt I was still involved in the world of weddings (even if they weren't actually happening then!).
Obviously, as we went in and out of lockdowns over the last year, weddings were repeatedly put on hold, so for a while I did wonder if I would run out of material to write about, but fortunately I've managed to keep it going, mainly due to the amazing wedding suppliers who have submitted their work to be featured. I also knew how much my fellow wedding suppliers were struggling and I wanted to help everyone out as much as I could by showcasing their work to potential clients.
When I started the blog, I never really thought that many people would read my posts; it was more of a personal thing for me, but it quickly started to do well, and has continued to grow in terms of readership and engagement, which still amazes me when I see the stats each month!
Thank you so much to everyone who has taken the time to submit a wedding/shoot, read a blog post, or get in touch to discuss potential collaborations; it means everything to me! And now that life is almost back to normal, I can't wait to see all the weddings and shoots that have been taking place recently or will be happening soon.
Here's to another successful year of blogging!
