Kate and Adrian’s wedding was so chic and simple, and yet still gorgeous against the backdrop of The Pantiles, in Tunbridge Wells. It’s a far cry from what the happy couple had originally planned - a glamorous wedding in New York earlier on in 2020, but obviously this plan had to be put on hold thanks to COVID-19, and they opted for a secret ceremony here in the UK with a bigger celebration at a later date. As Kate recalls, ‘It wasn’t a decision we took lightly, and we were worried about upsetting people, but we focussed on what was most important to us which was making this special commitment to each other. So it was a very intimate affair - just us and 3 guests!’
After a rather stressful year, they wanted a very relaxed day, starting with drinks with their guests before heading to the registry office for the ceremony, and then to The Pantiles for, ‘photos, fizz and burgers!’ They said, ‘It was a chilled day with some of our best friends and we loved that it was stress free and fun’. This really is the epitome of a micro-wedding, and it enabled Kate and Adrian to just focus on themselves and what it meant to them to be getting married at last. They said that they felt that being legally married already has taken the pressure off from the big wedding they’ve got planned for sometime in the next year, so I’m sure they will relax and enjoy it more - whenever it happens!
Kate and Adrian also said that other couples should, ‘Focus on the two of you and what you want! As much as we worried about what people would think or if we would upset anybody, it was utterly perfect on the day. It wasn’t what we had originally planned but we made the most of an unusual situation and had a brilliant day. We have no regrets about the way we did it, and we’ve had a few couples say they wish they’d done the same! Those that love you will understand your reasons - so go for it, do it your way!’
As I am sure you will agree, they had a very special day, and they both looked incredible; with Adrian’s very dapper blue suit and Kate’s stunning and intricate dress. I love her birdcage veil as well; so chic and classy. Their photographer, Nicola Dawson, did a fantastic job capturing them on camera in and around The Pantiles, and I bet they had so much fun wondering around choosing different buildings and shop fronts for backdrops.
Huge congratulations to you both, Kate and Adrian! And thank you so much for sharing your gorgeous day with Weddings in Kent.
