Everything about this brilliant shoot makes me smile; a handpicked group of wedding suppliers in Kent joined forces to have fun and create a styled shoot with a difference - a wedding for dogs! There’s nothing like seeing some beautiful animals having their own special day to cheer everyone up during these difficult and trying times.
The shoot was set at The Lost Village of Dode, and Becky (the venue’s wedding coordinator) says, ‘After being inspired by another shoot we had seen online and with having a connection to a large group of owners of our favourite breed of dogs, ‘Golden Retrievers’ we decided… this would be the perfect style shoot to be able to bring together some of our favourite suppliers (kept at a distance, of course) and show people things can still be fun and of course a little bit different and quirky….perfect for Dode.’ The unique wedding venue with a 900 year old history has been lovingly restored and is now used for civil ceremonies, hand-fastings and naming ceremonies, to name but a few.
The dogs were dressed accordingly, with a ceremony area decorated, complete with signage and flowers. There was also a pooch-friendly grazing table, complete with snacks and cakes, and an ice-cream cart was stationed nearby serving doggy ice cream.
Whilst it may not be considered a ‘serious’ shoot, there is still plenty of inspiration to be taken from it; it gives a unique feel to a very special venue, shows how a simple ceremony set-up could look, and highlights colours that complement each other in this setting beautifully. It may even inspire you to have your own dog or pet-friendly corner at your wedding, depending on your venue, of course.
So, what do you think of this ‘paw-fect’ shoot? Don’t forget to check out the video after the photos!
