Game of Thrones: Ice & Fire

Game of Thrones Wedding | Kent Wedding Blog | Lost Village of Dode

This themed styled shoot is a must-see for any Game of Thrones fan, especially one wanting a Game of Thrones themed wedding in Kent! It’s got dragons eggs, wolves, swords, the perfect mix of ice and fire touches throughout, and, most importantly, it has the Iron Throne!

Lily from Lily Jones Events was the creative genius behind this shoot, and here she explains how she drew on inspiration from this much-loved TV series for it… ‘Hidden away in the Kent countryside, The Lost Village of Dode is all that is left of a former Norman church built over 900 years ago. It is an ancient and sacred building that carries so much history. It was abandoned in 1349 as a result of the Black Death sweeping the country but is now restored and offering couples the most unique wedding venue. Lit purely by candlelight with a straw covered floor and all original features, it was the perfect setting for our Westeros inspired shoot!

This shoot was inspired by the themes of the joining of Ice and Fire found in Game of Thrones and so we decided to depict a double wedding of an ice couple and a fire couple. While we were inspired by the characters in the TV show, our couples were not portraying particular characters, but rather the themes that they represent. We modernised the theme with the use of mohawks and corsets from Engineers of Desire and modern bridal gowns from Pantiles Bride. We love the idea of weddings involving animals and these beautiful wedding wolves from Watermill Wolves were amazing to work with and would make the perfect addition to any alternative wedding day!’

The shoot was captured on video by Craig Howard Films which can be seen below the stunning images taken by Tom Jeavons Photography and Emma Stokes Photography.
