A Delightful Kentish Garden Shoot

Since Kent is very aptly named ‘The Garden of England’, it seems appropriate to feature a recent ‘Kentish garden’ shoot that showcases one of our beautiful garden venues, where you can have your special day. Tom, of Tom Cullen Photography, brought together a fabulous team of local suppliers to work on this intimate, socially-distanced shoot. Nettlestead Place was the chosen venue, where they have beautiful gardens and grounds, looking out over the rolling hills of the Kent countryside.

Here is what Tom had to say about their shoot: ‘Being based in Maidstone ourselves, we were inspired to search for some of the best wedding suppliers also in this area to showcase their businesses. Immediately, we knew who would create the perfect bouquet and floral hair pins for this shoot. Jo from Eliza Rose Artisan Florist is more than just a florist. She always looks to add something extra to her work and create a unique piece for every occasion. We worked with Jo on a shoot last year, so knew that we could trust her entirely with a very minimal brief to create some breathtaking floral pieces.

We met with Katie from Felicity Rose Bridal Boutique to help us choose the perfect gown. This boutique is a hidden gem in the middle of the Maidstone countryside that provides a personal experience to all their brides. We chose the beautiful Eternity Bridal D5443 gown, with it’s rose inspired lace as the one!

The fabulous Ellen Dalton Hair and Make Up was a brilliant member of the team for this shoot. Due to the pandemic restrictions we weren’t sure if we would even be able to have a professional make up artist on the day, but we stayed in close contact and were lucky enough to have the rules relaxed just in time for everything to go as planned. Ellen has an amazing attention for detail and works to create the perfect bridal look that suits you.

We borrowed some stunning pieces from Custom and Co jewellers, that were all handmade in Maidstone by their talented jewellers. It was such a pleasure to see the intricate details and hear about some of the bespoke pieces they have created for their customers recently.

On the day of the shoot, our fabulous model, Becky, arrived at Nettlestead looking stunning. The gardens at Nettlestead had been tended to and were all in full bloom ready for us to create some beautiful images.

The bouquet was stunning, with every single stem home grown by Jo at her allotment and garden in Maidstone. She had even added some hedgerow raspberries to create some extra countryside magic. We knew there’d be a little surprise for us in there to make the look truly unique!’
